I have no hot water, should I call a plumber or an electrician?
If water is still flowing from the hot tap but it's cold, it's almost always an electrical issue (element or thermostat). Call an electrician. If water is leaking onto the floor or no water is flowing at all, call a plumber.
My hot water is boiling / steaming out the tap, is this dangerous?
Yes. This usually means the thermostat has failed and the element is heating continuously. Turn off the cylinder at the switchboard immediately and call an electrician to avoid pressure buildup or scalding.
Can you fix gas hot water systems?
Gas systems (like continuous flow Rinnai/Californian systems) generally require a gas fitter. However, if the issue is power supply to the unit's ignition system, Sam can help. When in doubt, just ask.
